This is a story about mannequins.
Always cool and poised in store windows and afloat of all the latest trends.
But even mannequins have to rest once in a while. We eat snacks and enjoy our time off ... and even put on some weight after the holidays.

This exhibit shows a glimpse into the idle, but lovable reality behind the mannequins' holiday work.
Please step in and make yourselves at home in their private living room on display at Hikarie!

happy unbirthday

happy unbirthday (hUb for short) is an art unit formed by yuko and riyo. Just as the name suggests, our concept is the celebration of the everyday.
Both members of hUb majored in architecture at school and, based on the ideas of spatial design cultivated therein, their works aim to design space not only through the physicality of "hard" spaces but through the "soft" space of human movement, flows and awarenesses.
hUb's most representative work is a performance art piece through the city wearing newspaper dresses. This piece attempts to shed a new perspective on everyday life by introducing something foreign (two, slow moving people dressed in newspaper) into the familiar landscape. An objective view of the scene reveals that perhaps it is not the two performers but rather the scene of everyday life and its people that are the true "actors" in the work.
